Research Agenda and Framework: AI and the Human
The initial goal is to scope of the problem, define the research agenda, agree a language (i.e. vocabulary and semantic) for reasoning about it, and methods for exploring interactions and communications with heterogeneous intelligent autonomous agents. This includes defining the discipline of "insilicocene studies."
Example Research Domain
Ethical value systems lie at the heart of political and social systems built on social justice. Inhabiting a world populated by Intelligent Autonomous Agents, who are not human, will depend on sound ethical ecosystems. How can we facilitate “ethical behavior and value loading” in AI systems and ensure that Good’s (1965) long anticipated ‘intelligence explosion’ is synergistic with “the human” rather than exploitative and destructive of it is one example of the many challenges we need to tackle.
Further Topics
Further research will focus on such domains as: agency, intentionality, consciousness, ethics and values, risk, bias, rights, labour (e.g. what does the proliferation of AI systems mean for work), emotions, aesthetics, and interspecies interaction and communication.
